Class overview
In our classroom community, we strive to create a learning environment that is conducive to learning. We have worked on this by instilling on students an urgency to work cooperatively with each other, to learn how to communicate and solve problems on their own. We are very excited for what this year holds for all of us.

Osztályközösségünkben arra törekszünk, hogy olyan tanulási környezetet teremtsünk, amely elősegíti a tanulást. Ezen a tanulók egymással való együttműködésre nevelésével, a kommunikáció és az önálló problémamegoldás készségének elsajátíttatásával dolgozunk. Nagyon izgatottak várjuk, hogy mit tartogat ez az év mindannyiunk számára.
Future Role
I am humbled and excited to accept the role of Elementary School Principal for next school year. I look forward to continue to work with your children as their teacher for the remaining of the school year - nothing will change. I am happy to know that I will continue to see them and interact with them for the next three years. I would like to take the time to thank them and each one of you for your support as a classroom teacher this year. The children, your parental support, my colleagues, Ms. Andi, and Mr. Tom's vision for the school all played a major impact on my decision. I look forward to continue to work together to make this a school where our children can continue to grow in a rigorous academic environment that is inclusive and safe for all.
About mr. curbelo
My name is Gonzalo Curbelo-Cantera, and I am thrilled to be joining the ISD family as a staff member and proud father of a young son who will also be joining ISD. I was born in Uruguay, however I grew up in New York City and traveled extensively from a very young age.
I completed my studies in the United States, obtaining my bachelor degrees in Psychology, History, and English from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. I went on to obtain my Masters in English Language and Literature from the same university and a Masters in history from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. While living in Boston, I completed one year for my doctorate degree in History and Diplomacy at Harvard University and I recently completed an advanced certificate from Harvard in School Management and Leadership.
I have over seventeen years of experience in teaching all grade levels from 3rd through 12th, both in traditional and IB schools. I have been teaching internationally now for five years, starting with Ukraine, Panama, and now Hungary. As an educator and parent, I wholeheartedly believe in the International Baccalaureate programme and we are happy to call ISD and Debrecen our new home.

A nevem Gonzalo Curbelo-Cantera, és nagyon örülök, hogy csatlakozhatok az ISD csapatához, mint munkatárs és egy kisfiú büszke apja, aki szintén az ISD-be jár. Uruguayban születtem, de New Yorkban nőttem fel, és már nagyon fiatalon sokat utaztam.
Tanulmányaimat az Egyesült Államokban végeztem, a New York-i Plattsburghi Állami Egyetemen szereztem alapdiplomát pszichológiából, történelemből és angolból. Ezt követően ugyanezen az egyetemen szereztem mesterdiplomát angol nyelv és irodalomból, majd a Massachusetts állambeli Bostonban található Northeastern Universityn történelemből. Amíg Bostonban éltem, egy évig a Harvard Egyetemen tanultam történelem és diplomácia szakon a doktori fokozat megszerzéséért, és jelenleg azon dolgozom, hogy a Harvardon iskolai menedzsment és vezetés szakon szerezzek végzettséget.
Több mint tizenhét éves tanítási tapasztalattal rendelkezem, a 3. osztálytól a 12. osztályig minden évfolyamon tanítottam, hagyományos és IB iskolákban egyaránt. Öt éve tanítok nemzetközi iskolákban, először Ukrajnában, Panamában, most pedig Magyarországon. Pedagógusként és szülőként teljes szívemből hiszek az International Baccalaureate programban, és örülünk, hogy az ISD-t és Debrecent nevezhetjük új otthonunknak.
About ms. andi
My name is Andrea Kizman and I was born in Debrecen. As a child, I lived in Moscow for 6 years where I attended the local Russian primary school. I have good memories from that time; I enjoy being in an international setting and speaking a foreign language. It is one of the reasons I am very happy to be part of the ISD community.
I am interested in student-centered teaching methods and in education systems based on alternative curriculums. I have found the IB system to be the best of all. It is uplifting to work in a positive professional environment dedicated to children’s academic, social and emotional development. As an Assistant Teacher, my goal is to support the learning process of the students and at the same time provide them with the necessary conditions for a happy childhood.
I have more than seven years of experience working in a primary school in Debrecen. During this time, I assisted teachers with their day-to-day tasks and duties around the pupils, taught Informatics, and also did a variety of background jobs utilizing my IT knowledge. I graduated as a Teacher of Informatics at the University of Debrecen, but my first degree was in electrical engineering, where I specialized in computer science.
I have two daughters. We like to spend time in nature, watching movies in English, and cooking and eating together on weekends. I do my best to help them find their way to success, and become independent and well-adjusted adults.

Kizman Andrea vagyok, Debrecenben születtem. Gyermekkoromban 6 évig Moszkvában éltem, ahol a helyi orosz általános iskolába jártam. Szép emlékeim vannak ebből az időből, szeretek nemzetközi környezetben lenni és idegen nyelven beszélni. Ez az egyik oka annak, hogy nagyon örülök, hogy az ISD közösség tagja lehetek.
Érdekelnek a diákközpontú tanítási módszerek és az alternatív tanterveken alapuló oktatási rendszerek. Az IB rendszertaz egyik legjobbnak gondolom az összes közül. Felemelő egy ilyen pozitív szakmai környezetben dolgozni, amely a gyermekek tanulmányi, szociális és érzelmi fejlődését tartja szem előtt. Asszisztens tanárként célom a tanulók tanulási folyamatának támogatása, és egyben a boldog gyermekkorhoz szükséges feltételek biztosítása.
Több mint hét évet dolgoztam egy debreceni általános iskolában. Segítettem a tanárokat mindennapi feladataik és a diákok körüli teendők elvégzésében, informatikát tanítottam, valamint informatikai ismereteimet felhasználva különböző háttérmunkákat is végeztem. A Debreceni Egyetemen végeztem informatikatanárként, de az első diplomámat villamosmérnöki szakon szereztem, ahol informatikai szakirányokon végeztem.
Két lányom van. Szeretünk időt tölteni a természetben, angol nyelvű filmeket nézni, hétvégente pedig szívesen főzünk és eszünk együtt. Mindent tőlem telhetőt megteszek azért, hogy segítsek nekik megtalálni útjukat a sikerhez, és hogy önálló, talpraesett felnőttekké váljanak.
